The neighborhood

Railways, bike paths, parks and restored prairie are strong features of the neighborhoods surrounding Kenilworth Park. The community was originally brought to life at the turn of the century with the opening of railway stations on the Elgin and Aurora lines. Both of these artfully preserved stations are now registered with the National Registry of Historic Places, and enhanced by ornamental lighting. And while the daily train whistles have faded with the past, the extensive railway system has been transformed into a wondrous, park-like network of bicycle trails. The north boundary of Kenilworth Park is formed by the Great Western Trail, while the famed Prairie Path is located just a block to the south.
