The burgeoning village of Orland Park is adding three new developments.
The village board Monday approved site plans for townhomes, Staples and a new restaurant and brewery.
Last week, the planning and economic development committee recommended approval of Cooper Square, a townhome development at 147th Street and Ravinia Avenue.
Community development director Bob Sullivan said this development is ideal for village plans to make the center of Orland Park more pedestrian-accessible.
Diagonal parking will be added to 147th Street and traffic lanes will include a left turn only lane and a second lane marked for going straight or turning right.
"This is a well laid out and attractive project," Trustee Edward Schussler said.
Granite City, a 9,000-square-foot restaurant and brewery, will join the Orland Crossing plaza at 143rd Street and LaGrange Road.
Approval was given despite developer refusal last month to include windows on the building's north side to reduce what the plan commission said looked too much like a "big-box" business.
The developer's attorney David Sosin said last week lighting and architectural changes will soften the look without windows.
Also approved was a Staple's store that made changes to accommodate the plan commission's window requests.
The 20,000-square-foot store will join the Lowe's complex at 156th Street between LaGrange Road and 94th Avenue.
Sullivan said adding windows brightened plans for the store's facade.
An unannounced smaller business will join the Lowe's outlot.
Final plans on these projects will return to the village board at a future date.
