Tim Hernandez
Tim Hernandez is a Principal of New Urban Communities Corporation. Prior to co-founding New Urban with Kevin Rickard in 1998, he spent 16 years with Pulte Home Corporation in Illinois and South Florida as a Director and Vice President in marketing, land acquisition and land development. Before coming to Pulte, Mr. Hernandez was Director of Community Development and Planning for the City of North Chicago Illinois. He has served as a board member of various public and not for profit organizations, including the Lake County, IL Regional Planning Commission, the Abacoa Partnership for Community, the Fort Lauderdale Community Redevelopment Advisory Board, The Fort Lauderdale Urban Core Steering Committee, The Delray Beach Downtown Master Plan Implementation Committee and the Palm Beach County Transportation Performance Standards Committee.
Mr. Hernandez holds a BS in Urban Planning from Michigan State University and an MBA in Finance from the Kellogg School at Northwestern University. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners, the Congress for New Urbanism and the Urban Land Institute. He has taught a masters level course in Urban Design at Florida Atlantic University and has spoken on the subjects of urban design and redevelopment to numerous groups and organizations, among them the Urban Land Institute, the National Association of Home Builders, the Congress for New Urbanism, the American Planning Association, the Florida Redevelopment Association, and the Florida Planning and Zoning Association.

Kevin Rickard
Kevin Rickard is a Principal of New Urban Communities Corporation. Prior to forming New Urban with his partner Tim Hernandez, he spent the last ten years as President of Rickard Group Custom Homes Inc. Rickard Group Custom Homes is a custom homebuilder, which has built homes throughout Palm Beach County.
Prior to forming Rickard Group Custom Homes, he was project manager for LJ Hooker Homes in South Florida. An Australian based builder, LJ Hooker Homes built homes in several communities in both Broward and Palm Beach counties. Before joining LJ Hooker Homes, he was a Vice President with the investment firm of Morgan Stanley Dean Wittier.
Mr. Rickard is a graduate of Western Michigan University and holds a BS degree in Business Administration, He is a licensed Securities Trader with the Securities Exchange Commission, and a licensed General Contractor with the State of Florida. He is a current member of the National Home Builders Association and the Florida Home Builders Association. He is married with three children and resides in Boca Raton.
